David W. Shepherd is owner and operator of Redline Drafting Services. Specializing in: Remodels and small additions for residential and commercial buildings, blueprint corrections, As-builts, and revisions for architects and building construction contractors.
David was born in Sacramento, California, but was raised in Braintree, Massachusetts. He attended Thayer Academy and Braintree High school. Upon graduation he became an Architectural Engineering Candidate at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA.
In the early 1970’s David entered military service in the U.S. Coast Guard where he commanded Search and Rescue Motor Life Boats at various locations throughout the Atlantic Ocean and Mississippi River. He received numerous citations and letters of appreciation. He also held a 100 Gross Ton Ocean Going Captain’s License.
Leaving the U.S. Coast Guard after 12 years of service, he worked in the engineering field of the construction trade. After obtaining a Construction Supervisor’s License, he was hired by several large southern Massachusetts land developers. He also worked within his family’s general contractor’s business. Through his experience and knowledge, he was able to provide: Surveying, Architectural, Structural, Civil, Rock Ledge Removal, Drafting, and obtained and pulled construction and fire permits. On many construction projects David acted as Construction Supervisor, Construction Manager, Survey Crew Chief and Heavy Equipment Operator.
After the attacks of 9/11, David re-entered military service in 2003, joining the Massachusetts Army National Guard. In 2005, he requested and received a transfer to the California Army National Guard. His Combat Engineering Company was deployed to a Forward Operating Base in eastern Afghanistan. His FOB was attacked on many occasions and he has received the Combat Action Badge.
Upon his return to the US, in early 2007, he remained a Soldier in the California Army National Guard. David attained a Top-Secret clearance and worked at that the Joint Force Headquarters Building, Facilities and Engineering Office, Sacramento, California until his retirement after 24 years of Military Service in 2015.
Since David’s retirement, he continues to provide construction contractors and home owners with CADD Designs and Construction Documents.
David married his wife, Barbara, over the phone while deployed in 2006. He also has 3 grown children who all live in Pennsylvania and has 3 step-children and 2 step-grandchildren.
His hobbies include, flying Full-Scale Aircraft and Radio Controlled ¼ Scale Military WW1 and WW2 Model Aircraft. He and his wife also enjoying cross country road trips.
